TTL’s scope of work for client Bristol Development Group included construction materials testing and a geotechnical investigation from 2007-2008. ICON in the Gulch is a 22-story glass and brick building that combines 417 condos, 26,000 square feet of retail, and an 800-space parking garage on three acres. Challenges for the foundation design on this project included variable intervals of mixed fill from earlier generations of development, the presence of a historic retaining wall located along the northern limits of the site, and a highly weathered and irregular bedrock surface within karstic limestone. The project design successfully addressed specific client demands and the existing site conditions while allowing for protection of the historic retaining wall. ICON in the Gulch was the recipient of the Urban Land Institute Nashville 2009 Excellence in Development Award.
The Gulch, a 60-acre urban mixed-use neighborhood in downtown Nashville, was the first LEED® ND certified green neighborhood in the Southeast and the fourth Silver Certified neighborhood in the world.Next Project | Previous Project
